3 Perform basic lookout duties

- 3.3Scheduled checks and inspections are conducted to comply with supervisor instructions
- 3.4Sighting of lights, shapes and sound signals are reported to the Master or officer of the watch
- 3.5Appropriate action is taken in the event of irregularities or abnormal conditions to maximise the safety and integrity of the vessel according to supervisor instructions and workplace procedures
- 3.6Restrictions on access to the vessel by visitors are followed according to supervisor instructions and workplace procedures
- 3.7Very high frequency (VHF) equipment is monitored, and information is communicated to the Master or officer of the watch according to workplace procedures, as required
- 3.8Emergency situations are promptly reported to the Master or officer of the watch according to workplace procedures
- 3.9Distress signals are recognised and reported to the Master or officer of the watch according to workplace procedures
