Performance evidence

• supervise dredging operations on at least two occasions, including: assessing and assigning required plant and equipment and operational techniques, monitoring dredging operations and making required adjustments for variances and non-achievement, assessing outcomes to make reasoned recommendations and writing reports, identifying and analysing hazards and implementing control measures, preparing training plans.
• locate and apply relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures
• implement the requirements, procedures and techniques to supervise dredging operations safely, effectively and efficiently, including: interpreting, applying and communicating work instructions, wearing required personal protective equipment, performing basic mathematical calculations, accessing and analysing survey and geological data, selecting and assigning resources, plant and equipment
• work effectively with others to undertake and complete supervision of dredging operations that meets the required outcomes, including: complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures, using communication techniques required to convey information to others, communicating with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities, providing instruction to team members involved in dredging operations, identifying the training needs of others and preparing training plans.

Knowledge evidence

• legislative requirements relating to supervising dredging operations
• policies, procedures and documentation relating to dredging operations, including those relating to: environmental protection, fire, accident and emergency, personal protective equipment, site operational, quality and communication requirements, site product characteristics, site requirements, work health and safety, workplace recording and reporting requirements
• principles, methods and techniques for supervising dredging operations, including those relating to: accessing and analysing survey and geological data, applying problem solving skills to technical resources and infrastructure issues, identifying training needs of others and preparing training plans, organising, work planning and work monitoring, performing basic mathematical calculations, providing instruction to team members involved in dredging operations, researching, analysing and supervising dredging operations, writing reports to communicate procedural activity, breach or inadequacies to procedure and review process of the dredging operations.

• Writing: Completes maintenance records using sector specific vocabulary, grammatical structures and conventions
