1 Plan and prepare

• 1.1Read and interpret work instructions and plan sequence of work.

3 Fix thermal and moisture management

• 3.1Cut weatherproofing, vapour barrier, and flashing materials, fit into position, and secure.
• 3.2Identify locations for ancillary materials and prepare to required lengths, position and secure as per manufacturers’ installation instructions.

4 Set out, cut and fix horizontal weatherboards

• 4.1Determine effective cover or overlap for cladding from recommended lap, type and profile of board and height of wall.
• 4.2Produce set-out rod or jig.
• 4.3Mark locations of each profile on the building paper or corner stop to determine height of each row of profile.
• 4.4Cut cladding to fit length of wall faces or to join on intermediate studs.
• 4.5Join butt joints of cladding at centre of studs with joint flush to face and line.
• 4.6Join manufactured boards using manufacturers’ specification/method.
• 4.7Fix and finish internal and external corners to manufacturers’ specification/method.

5 Fix panelling

• 5.1Determine starting position of first panel against windows, doors and corners in accordance with specified design and finished effect.
• 5.2Cut panelling to fit height of wall.
• 5.3Fix abutting joints of panelling following manufacturers’ specifications and requirements for flashing.
• 5.4Cut, fit and fix panelling plumb and level.

6 Clean up

• 6.1Clean up, meeting all legislative and workplace requirements for safety, waste disposal and materials handling.
• 6.2Check, maintain and store tools and equipment and report any faults.
